Getting to Auckland
Auckland Airport is the second largest airport in Australasia and is serviced by 30 international airlines flying direct to Auckland from more than 40 destinations around the world. More than 150 international flights arrive and depart from Auckland Airport. The Auckland Airport is only a three-hour flight from the eastern seaboard of Australia, and approximately a 10-hour direct flight from most places in the Pacific Rim, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and the west coast of the USA.
Getting to and from Auckland Airport
Auckland's international and domestic airport terminals are about 25 minutes from the conference venue which is about 5 minutes from downtown Auckland. Regular shuttles, transfers, private transport and bus services are all available 24 hours, seven days a week.
Taxi and shuttle ranks are located outside the arrivals area at the international terminal and outside the luggage collection area at the domestic terminal. Stop in at the i-SITE Visitor Information Centre in the international terminal for more information about getting to your destination from the airport.
A company that offers transfer from the Airport to Downtown is Skybus.
Public transport – trains, buses and ferries
Britomart, in downtown Auckland, is the main transport hub and is where many bus and train journeys start and finish. Ferries also arrive and depart from downtown Auckland, just two minutes’ walk from Britomart. A number of bus and train stations and some ferry departure points also have park and ride facilities – ideal if you’ve got a hire car or you’re staying longer.
Find public transport services, maps and timetables at Auckland Transport’s AT journey planner. If you’re staying around Auckland for a while, consider buying an AT HOP card, a pre-pay smart card that can be used across buses, trains and ferries.
City Link buses
Link bus services are a convenient and cheap way to get around Auckland’s city centre and inner suburbs – including top shopping and dining spots. They run very frequently, so there’s no timetable, and fares start at just 50 cents. Just look for the red, green or amber buses and wait at a matching bus stop. Find out more.
